What is CrossFit Kids & Teens?

CrossFit Raw Strength is an East Auckland based centre that wants to bring teenagers and kids into a community of like-minded people who believe that exercise and training leads to better well-being.

Our Teens & Kids focused coaching sessions allows standardised workouts to be scaled to suit your teenager or child and their specific needs and goals. CrossFit by definition is constantly varied, functional movements that are done at high intensity predominantly in a group environment – but each teen and child has their own pace and limits.

When are the Kids Classes?

We now run our Kids and Teens programs right throughout the entire school year. There is only a small break for the summer holidays and we recommence at the beginning of the first term of the next school year.

Classes are run for the entire school year, including mid term holidays.

CrossFit Raw Strength offers a free trial class for every kid, ensuring they enjoy it before committing. There’s no minimum joining period, and we provide free membership holds for sick days, school camps, or vacations. Flexibility and your child’s well-being are our priorities!

is crossfit safe for kids?

From Jeff Martin, founder of CrossFit, who launched CrossFit Kids in 2004, it is absolutely safe for teens and kids. He confirms that CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled-down version of the adult program but is instead, a method of teaching, specifically for those aged 3 – 18 years old.
“CrossFit Kids is about far more than just ‘weight lifting’. The overarching goal of the program is to link fun to fitness so that the kids embrace a lifelong pursuit of fitness.”

CrossFit Teens & Kids has a specifically designed curriculum based on physical, cognitive and social developmental needs of the four classes:

  • Preschool
  • Elementary
  • Preteen
  • Teen

Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence.

Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids.

The classes are created to encourage a team environment where the workouts are often to be completed as a group, rather than individually.

Qualified and skilled coaches will supervise and run the classes throughout East Auckland. Classes are designed to include a warm-up, skill training, workout, and stretch.
